My name is Alysson Holt and I grew up in the emerald city of Seattle! I come from Norwegian and Danish heritage on my dads side and my moms ancestors can be traced back to the Mayflower, which I think is pretty cool! Growing up, I was the ultimate girly girl. I have a younger sister, and together we would play Barbies, house, and accessorize our doll collection. I would take ballet classes, theater classes, do horse camps in the summer, and was an avid pianist for ten years. My favorite memory is paddleboarding on Useless Bay at our old summer house on Whidbey Island.

Even with all the girlieness, I was also my daddy’s girl, and when I was a kid was a wonderful time to be a sports enthusiast in Seattle (despite lack of actual championship titles those years). Mariners games at the Kingdome with Ken Griffey Jr., Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp crushing it at the Key Arena. Seattle was a blast through those years, but always a letdown when we would lose that playoff game. Luckily, being in NYC for the SUPERBOWL this year has more than made up for it! #GoHawks!

unnamed1I still managed to maintain my girly and tomboy interest simultaneously through the difficult years of adolescence. I was a cheerleader in high school but also ran track, gymnastics, started Scandinavian club, and even joined the women’s golf team one year. In college I studied fashion merchandising and journalism, which then led me to modeling. After college I was job searching and nannying part time when I entered the Maxim Hometown Hottie Contest 2010. When I didn’t become a finalist, it fueled me to prove them otherwise!

I moved down to LA within a year of losing in the first round (sadface) of the HH contest and signed with a smaller agency. I started out doing a lot of promotional work, but struggled to make it at times. LA can be a tough place, so many beautiful girls come here every single day to “make it” and very few do. I always had a second job as a waitress or retail at a clothing boutique, or being a personal assistant. Only recently have I been able to say modeling is my full time job, and I have been here 4 years, worked with many talented photographers and makeup artists, brands and magazines. In my eyes I still have yet to become the name/as successful want to be (as a model), which just pushes me to try harder every single morning I wake up! I have been very blessed with many of the opportunities I have had, including traveling all over the country and even to Europe for work. I especially love to spend time in New York city. I feel like my personality is better suited for NYC but my “look” requires me to be in Los Angeles. Some of my modeling goals are to be in a Guess ad campaign, a Playmate, and presenting at top award shows.

This summer, I will be attending Mercedes-Benz Miami Swim Week for the first time in my modeling career, at age 28 at that:) I have been rejected one hundred thousand times and have heard the worst of it, but it has taught me to keep my eye on the prize and focus on what it is I want to do, regardless of what people will say. I always try again, and follow my dream. Look for me later this year in a few different international spreads, my twitter will keep you up to date until then!

As for when my modeling career is over, I hope to start a home decor line particularly with bedding and drapes/curtains. I want to be married with two or three kids, and adopt lots of animals. I have a huge heart!

Loves: being outdoors in beautiful nature, good food, dogs, dolphins, the beach, trips home to Seattle, online shopping, Whidbey Island, shopping on 5th ave in NYC, great wine, laughing, bikinis, expensive lingerie, craft time and sewing, my friends and family, hip hop music, THE SEAHAWKS, playing truth or dare as an ice-breaker when I meet people, being cozy, blue hydrangeas, spa days.

Q&A with Alysson

What motivates you?

Do you find it hard to balance your career with your personal life?

I used to find it hard to maintain a social life with my modeling schedule, but at this point, my best friends have been my best friends for many years, through everything, and they get me. I actually see all of them quite often! They are my world.
I also make it a priority to visit Seattle every season. Life is too short to not hug and kiss your family when you can!

unnamedName the one thing you cant live without:

A silk eyemask by Mary Green. Literally cannot sleep without it! Also, a light denim button down shirt from Guess. It’s super soft and I can throw it over any outfit to dress it down, or even at the beach in my bikini when it starts to get a little chilly. I have 3 of the same, thats how much I love it!

What has changed since becoming a model and public figure?

I have always been a sensitive soul, I get my feelings hurt very easily, but modeling has forced me to build a thicker skin. People will always say mean things, but I have learned to not care as much.

Name the one thing you would love to see happen in this world.

I would love to see more money put into medical research in cure for diseases rather than into drug companies. Also, to end whaling (Japan and Norway) and whale captivity (AKA Seaworld)

What is your favorite movie and why?

I have soooo many the list goes on! But I could watch When Harry Met Sally a million times and laugh like it was the first time I ever saw it. Total classic. My favorite movie character is Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side. She reminds me of how I see myself someday: Caring, a little bit high maintenance but not afraid to show it, witty, loyal to her family, business savvy, and a tough cookie!

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

An enchanted oasis in Morocco

What is your favorite sport?

Football! I literally have a countdown on my phone for how many days, hours, seconds until the first Seahawks game of the season. It almost makes me wish summer would just be over already! Key word almost 😉
