Last month Pittsburgh Penguins’ Evgeni Malkin blasted Winnipeg Jets’ Blake Wheeler with a controversial hit to the head.
In their meeting last night, the two stars squashed their beef by dropping the gloves. The fight only lasted a few good blows but it was very evident that Wheeler got the best of Malkin, who before last night had only been involved in one other fight in the NHL. The bonus fight between Tom Sestito and Chris Thorburn is what a hockey fight should be.
After the game, Malkin admitted the hit he put on Wheeler last month was dirty and took the L like a consummate professional.
Malkin on the fight: “I knew it wasn’t a great hit. I respect (Wheeler). I was ready. Wasn’t my greatest fight, couple punches. I lost” -SK
