Rumors are swirling all around the MMA world that Invicta FC champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino will be making her highly anticipated UFC debut on May 14th, at UFC 198. Ariel Helwani of “MMAFighting” is reporting that the UFC is “Actively exploring the possibility of Cris Cyborg fighting at UFC 198.” Heavyweight title holder Fabricio Werdum is set to defend his belt against Stipe Miocic in the main event that night.
Justino (15-1) has completely dominated all of the opponents Invicta has put in front of her, including four finishes in a row. In her last fight against Daria Ibragimova (9-2), “Cyborg” got the stoppage at 4:58 in the first round, winning in impressive fashion.
As of right now, it’s yet to be known if she will be fighting a bantamweight at a catchweight of 140 pounds, or if the UFC plans on bringing up another featherweight fighter to square off with the Invicta FC featherweight champion. Who knows, maybe a miracle will happen and she’s able to cut down to the 135 pound mark.
Up until the last couple days, the rumored opponent was former bantamweight #1 contender Cat Zingano, but in a recent interview with “Inside MMA” correspondent Ron Kruck on AXS TV, Zingano says that her next fight will be “Epic”, and goes on to hint that she will make her return around July.
No matter who the opponent, “Cyborg” will definitely draw decent numbers for her long-awaited UFC debut, if it does happen, that is.
