I can almost guarantee that you had a better weekend that Sam Miller. The forward on Dayton’s basketball team was arrested for public intoxication, underage consumption and disorderly conduct at 1:21 a.m. on Sunday. However, that wasn’t the worst part of the night for the 20-year-old.
Miller was taken to a holding cell at the local jail where he proceeded to urinate on the floor. Then, Miller walked over to another inmate and slapped him. Genius right? That inmate, John Watkins Jr., taught Miller a lesson, landing several vicious punches in retaliation, and finally knocking him out.
According to a police report obtained by the Dayton Daily News, officers were dispatched to Caddy’s Taphouse in Beavercreek, Ohio at 1:21 a.m. on Sunday. When they arrived, a bartender told them Miller became upset when she cut him off — so much so that he knocked all the glasses off the bar and pushed her. He also allegedly pushed a security guard. Officers described Miller as intoxicated and with speech so slurred he was difficult to comprehend. He kicked the police car, according to the report.
Seriously this is hilarious. Watkins absolutely hammered Miller, who fully deserved what he got. That final punch was beautiful. Perfectly timed and placed.
Miller averaged 4.5 points and 2.3 rebounds last year, so I’m fairly certain Dayton will have no trouble suspending or expelling him.
