The Ultimate Fighter: Analysis

The Ultimate Fighter: Analysis

Since I didn’t really get to discuss the fights held this Friday, I wanted to give you guys a rundown on who to keep an eye out for on this (upcoming) season of The Ultimate Fighter “Faber Vs. Cruz”. Although the Teams have yet to be chosen, these fighters caught my attention, as well as the coaches, “Dominick Cruz, Urijah Faber, & of course UFC President Dana White”. These fighters either showcased their Knockout Power, Submission Game, or Intensive heart.

First things first, Sam Sicilia was declared the winner against Erin Beach in just (8 Seconds) Via KO/TKO. After touching gloves, Erin Beach tried to find his range against Sicilia, but got caught with a looping fast right cross that dropped Beach very quickly & forced the referee to make the call before any further damage was done. Sam Sicilia obtained the quickest finish on Friday!

Justin Lawrence is already my favorite coming into this season. He showcased very impressive stand-up skills and his comfortability inside the cage. Justin was very explosive and stopped James Krause early in the First Round Via TKO. Justin is only 21 years old, and i can tell he’s going to have a very bright future in MMA as well as on the Show!

Chris Tickle also showed his explosive Knockout Power, even though Chris’s background is wrestling, the pressure of only having 1 Round to impress the judges gave Chris much anticipation. Chris came out swinging for the fences and finished his opponent Austin Lyons in just 24 Seconds in the First Round Via TKO.

Andy Ogle Won via Decision, but showed tremendous heart. Andy completed a takedown very early against Brendan Weafer. After, Brendan off his back secured a very tight arm triangle, but that wasn’t enough to put Andy away. Andy survived over 3 minutes of being in Brendan’s triangle but kept busy with strikes from the top, as well as keeping calm and control/position on the ground. Andy’s ability not to tap shows that he wont be going anywhere anytime soon.

With both parents being black belts, Daron Cruickshank is a very experienced Tae Kwon Do fighter. Daron came out using many diverse kicks, ranging from side thrusts to spinning back/circle kicks. Although the fight went to Decision, Daron showed his stand-up skills and proved he wont be an easy opponent for the rest.

Lastly Vinc Pichel defeated Cody Pfister who was a very young and hungry fighter. Vinc being 8 years the elder, showed that he indeed means business. Cody a very experienced wrestler came out like a spit fire but Vinc remained focused & calm. Vinc displayed good movement and positioning on the ground. But when it came time to be on top, Vinc landed heavy punches and elbows, one of which cut Cody and drew blood, causing him to give his back. Vinc secured a (rear naked choke) and ended the fight midway Via Submission.

Be sure to catch The Next Episode of The Ultimate Fighter, Friday March 16th! On FX!
