A New ‘Super Mario Bros.’ Speedrunner World Record Was Set On Friday, And It Only Took A Million Attempts

A new Super Mario Bros. speed runner world record was set last week and it only took the new world champion one million trillion to break the previous world record. A speedrunner named Darbian set the new world record by beating Super Mario Bros. in just 4:56.528.

It was a year ago that Darbian set the previous Super Mario Bros. speed runner world record at 4:56.878. Meaning this time around he shaved .35 seconds off his previous world record. It only took him several thousand attempts between his last world record and the new WR set on Friday to shave that .35 seconds off his time.
