Patriots’ Malcolm Butler Blasts Bill Belichick For Not Playing Him During Super Bowl 52

Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler didn’t start Super Bowl 52 (which would have been nice to know before placing my bet) and was not put in the game at all during New England’s 41-33 loss to the Eagles.

According to several reports, Butler He’d been sick all week long leading up to the Super Bowl and appeared with an “illness” on New England’s injury report.

After the game Belichick defended his decision to not play Butler.

“I made the decisions that give us the best chance to win,” head coach Bill Belichick said, according to Michelle Tafoya on NBC’s broadcast. It is striking that the Patriots have gone to depth cornerback Johnson Bademosi on some downs before using Butler.

Butler on the other hand was not happy about not getting any play.

Just caught up with a very emotional Malcolm Butler, alongside Adam Schefter. “They gave up on me. F—. It is what it is,” Butler told us.

More from an emotional Malcolm Butler as he walked to the team bus: “I don’t know what it was. I guess I wasn’t playing good or they didn’t feel comfortable. I don’t know. But I could have changed that game.” h

It looks like Malcolm Butler’s time with New England has come to an end.
