Levi’s Stadium May Have Alcohol Sales Banned After Halftime, Sorry 49ers Fans

The San Francisco 49ers have had notable problems with violence outside the stadium in the past couple weeks, and now some Santa Clara City Council members are considering banning alcohol sales after halftime as a preventative measure.

“We really need to send a message that this type of behavior will not be tolerated,” said Councilwoman Lisa Gillmor.

The call was driven by cell phone video posted on Facebook after the game showing a man in a Minnesota Vikings jersey on the pavement being punched and kicked in the head as a handful of fans in 49ers gear surrounded him.

Alcohol consumption has a well documented history of fueling many forms of violence and stupidity. So, pushing the sales cessation back is not the worst idea.
