Pelicans rookie Buddy Hield’s Sunday night game against the Kings lasted just 14 minutes because he, well, went below the belt on DeMarcus Cousins.
As Hield was running across Cousins’ screen in pursuit of Ben McLemore, the Pelicans guard swung his fist and appeared to follow through at Cousins’ groin.

Cousins was in obvious pain and immediately turned to the officials to furiously argue his case. He had a very good case.
The officials reviewed the play and hit Hield with flagrant 2 foul and ejection. After last year’s NBA playoffs, the NBA appears to be taking punches (and kicks) to the groin very seriously.
That’s a good thing for everyone involved.
