Kelvin Taylor, the all-time leading rusher in Florida high school history, has committed to Florida. Taylor, who is the son of former NFL star Fred Taylor, picked the Gators over Alabama.
Taylor broke Emmitt Smith’s old State record in three years. He’ll be a senior next year and join the Gators in September 2013. Somewhat surprisingly, the 5-foot-10, 205-pound Taylor was coveted by SEC schools, but isn’t even a Top 100 running back according to Rivals (111th).
Kelvin Taylor has rushed for 9,698 yards in three seasons. The all-time high school rushing record is held by Ken Hall (Sugar Land, Texas), who tallied 11,232 yards between 1950 and 1953.
